Humour: Meetings – A Brief History Lesson
The first meetings were held back in
prehistoric times soon after the human race came up with language. Jobs weren´t
so varied as nowadays – men hunted and women prepared what the men caught. Life
was hard and uncomfortable. The men´s hunting expeditions were difficult and
dangerous and they often returned home empty-handed. One day one of the men had
the idea of getting everyone together to share their thoughts on making these
hunting trips safer and more successful. So instead of going out hunting the
men formed a circle around the fire and began to talk. That first meeting
proved fruitful. No new light was shed on the problems of saber-toothed tigers
or charging mammoths but it was warm and safe by the fire and the men agreed to
have a meeting again the next day. This continued day after day until the woman
pointed out that there was nothing to eat and everybody would starve. The men
saw at once that this was a pretty serious situation and decided to put it at
the top of the agenda of the next day´s meeting. At this point the woman
started eating plants and agriculture was born.
